Our Approach to Therapy
MY style of working incorporates several models from the field of Humanistic therapy but my core approach is Gestalt.
I usually see clients once a week, preferably arranging a regular day and time (although I will be flexible about this if clients work or other commitments make a regular appointment impractical).
As a Gestaltist some of my key concepts and assumptions are:
* A Holistic approach: everything is relevant.
* Focusing on the "here and now" of present experience, rather than the "there and then" of the past.
* That increased self-awareness (not the same as "self knowledge") automatically increases the range of choices available to us.
* That human beings have an innate tendency to work towards their own health and growth, and to become the best that is possible in their particular circumstances.
* That my function is to facilitate my clients' own healing processes.
