Information for Clients - Fees and Terms
CONFIDENTIALITY
Confidentiality is important in therapy. Iadhere to the BACP code of ethics on confidentiality and our therapists would only consider breaking confidentiality:
1. If there were disclosure of ongoing abuse/neglect of a child or vulnerable adult.
2. If I considered a client to be a danger to him or herself or to others.
3. In situations where there is a legal obligation to do so (e.g. under the Terrorism Act 2000)
- I would normally first discuss the situation with the client, encourage him or her to participate in the disclosure, and support them in doing this.
- I will not discuss what occurs in your therapy except in supervision (in accordance with the BACP code of Ethics).
CANCELLATIONS & MISSED SESSIONS
- Regularity and continuity are important in therapy, as they give a feeling of reliability and structure to the process. You and I will agree on the days and times of your meetings (normally weekly) and those times will then be set aside for you.
- If you need to cancel an appointment for any reason please let Me have as much notice as possible. If you are unable to give at least 7 days notice there will be a cancellation charge of the normal fee for the session.
- I will let you know in advance of my holidays, during which time no fee is due.
FEES
- Payment can be made on a weekly basis or monthly in advance. I review My fees periodically, usually on 1st January.
- Standard fee for a 50 minute session (for individuals) is currently £110. 60 minute sessions (for couples) are £135.
BOOKING YOUR FIRST SESSION
- When booking the initial consultation you will be asked for a deposit (by credit or debit card) to confirm the appointment. This will be deducted from the fee due for your first session. If you cancel the session with at least 7 days notice the deposit will be refunded. Subsequent sessions are paid for on the day.
OTHER MATTERS
- I will be ready for you at the appointed time and if you should arrive late for any reason, will not be able to continue after the agreed finishing time.
- Please do not take alcohol or drugs (other than prescribed drugs) before a session.
- In general it is most beneficial for ending therapy to be a mutual decision rather than a one-sided or impulsive action. If either you or I feel it is time to close the therapy we will discuss this and will agree a period of time during which to close the therapy. In most cases I would suggest a minimum of one session but in the case of long term therapy (6 months or more), I usually like to allow a longer period in order to respect the relationship and give time to complete.
- Please feel free to raise questions about these terms or any procedures you do not understand or feel unhappy about for any reason.
- I can be contacted on 07703 359488 but does not interrupt client sessions to answer the telephone, so if he is unavailable, please leave a message and I will ring you back.
